This amateur and professional cook- favorite cookware set is made out of hard anodized aluminum and a triple layer nonstick coating known to be “Dupont Autograph” is used to ensure the nonstick feature of it. This Dupont Autograph nonstick coating is just another variation of Teflon, that claims to have the most advanced dent-scratch – abrasion resistant cookware technology available till date, enhances the performance and durability of this cookware product set.
The color used in the pots and pan is matt black. The glass lids are tempered. It provides the facility to look through to monitor the cooking progress without losing any heat. The stainless steel rims that the lids hold on to and the top handles of the lids combined look beautiful against the matt black color on the main pieces.
The relatively thin handles don’t appear to be ergonomic in style. It might be an odd for some but we don’t consider it problematic as they are securely riveted to the main pieces. The Anolon logo etched into the handles gives the cookware set a uniqueness making it stand out from its competitors.
The cookware items seem to be a bit weighty but we don’t think it’s creating an issue with the maneuverability. It rather gives us a feel of sturdiness of the product.
Oven-friendliness is another feature of this set. The pots and pans in the set can stand temperature up to 500° F while their lids should be able to take temperature up to 350° F like most other lids of different brands of cookware products, we assume, as we didn’t experiment with them.
The cookware pieces are dishwasher friendly even though, in contradiction with their statement, they recommend, you don’t use dishwasher. So is the case with most other nonstick cookware sets. At the same time, the manufacturers encourage and discourage you to use dishwashers for the cleanup of their products. However, we suggest, you don’t use dishwasher to clean your nonstick cookwares, to be on the safe side. They don’t specifically say anything as to what utensils-metal or plastic-to use. We decided to use plastic utensils.
At this point, we decided to see practically how this anolon cookware set works. We started out with the 10″ skillet by frying an egg. As usual, we seasoned the cooking surface of the skillet with a little olive oil. It didn’t take much time for the skillet to be heated up. We cracked open an egg into it. Turning the egg was absolutely easy with the help of a spatula as the nonstick coating performed wonderfully. A delicious fried egg was ready straight away. Transferring the egg from the pan to the plate was quite effortless due to the non-stickiness of the interior of the piece as claimed.
Cleaning the pan was very easy. We wiped it clean with just a kitchen towel. It was ready again for the next item to be cooked.
The next item we tried was a big size salmon steak. We poured little olive oil in the skillet to better prepare it for the succulent piece of salmon. The surface of the skillet was already heated enough for the steak as we didn’t waste any time after frying the egg. So it started getting cooked immediately giving a sizzling sound. It got browned evenly leaving no hot spots as the heat distribution was even. Moving and turning it around with the spatula wasn’t difficult at all. In a few minutes, the steak was perfectly done.Sliding it out the skillet onto the serving dish was a piece of cake. It needed just a stroke of the spatula. By the way, We also put some chopped onions and green peppers on the side to go with the steak. They came out quite nice, well cooked. This time a soapy sponge did the cleaning job nicely though we could have done it with a towel,it seemed.
Finally, we tried the 3-quart saucepan to cook some gravy. It takes considerable amount of time for a nice gravy to be cooked, as you know. The perfect gravy our saucepan could cook was worth our time and efforts. We couldn’t wait to taste it. So we emptied it out from the saucepan to a tray. A thin layer of gravy was sticking to the bottom of the saucepan leaving us worried with regard to the cleanup job. Fortunately, we could do the primary cleaning just by letting it soak under a tap for a few minutes. A sponge and little soapy water helped do the final and perfect cleaning leaving the pot just like it was never used before.
We tested the rest of the cookware pieces on different occasions and the results were nothing but positive in every case.
